Pastoral Musings from Rain City

it's about 'what is church?' it's about whether 'emergent' is the latest Christian trend or something more substantial. it's musing on what it means to live faithfully...in the city, in America, in community, intergenerationally, at this time in history...

Matthew 26:31

Then Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away because of Me this night, for it is written, “I will strike down the shepherd and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered.”  But after I have been raised, I will go ahead of you to Galilee.

Your flock has scattered often Lord
Driven apart by our fabricated Christs
Whose voices conflict and conspire
To fracture your body

And yet your flock has endured,
Held together through the darkness.
Nero, Hitler, Amin, Mao, Stalin
None could vanquish You,
Great Shepherd of the Sheep

Scattered and fractured
Yet woven from one cloth
Somehow, Your voice
Still sings hope
Still invites joy
Still heals
Still
